On Friday June 10th, 2016, the THORNICO Building proudly opened up the doors to its brand new main entrance with a big celebratory event. West-Star Management and THORNICO had invited tenants, business partners and friends of the house, bringing more than 100 people together for a great party – with a twist of creativity.
Beautifully designed and decorated, the new entrance creates a warm and pleasant welcome into the giant office building, giving tenants and visitors a little extra from the moment they enter the building. Especially the Karma Statue located at the main doors make sure to great visitors with good energy. The renovations have been made together with architect Joost Kühne and the architect bureau Kühne & Co, whose office is located in the newly acquired THORNICO T(W)O Building.
But our reopening event was not only about renovations and buildings. THORNICO also used the occasion to bring people together for the world premiere of a new innovative concept, namely the THORNICO TALKS. Inviting four top speakers together with him on stage, THORNICO owner and CEO Christian Stadil opened up for the opportunity to speak about innovation, inspiration and creativity, and how these things can create a positive change in the world.
At the first ever THORNICO TALKS, we had the pleasure of being inspired by Erik Legernes, senior creative director at LEGO, Peter Kreiner, managing director of NOMA, David Zahle, Partner at BIG and Winy Maas, co-founder of MVRDV. Together with Christian Stadil, they discussed the importance of creativity and innovation in the world today, what it means to be a creative leader and how you motivate employees to be creative. With the great success of the THORNICO TALKS, we want to make it a recurrent happening at the THORNICO Building and at other THORNICO locations around the world.
After the THORNICO TALKS and the official opening of the main entrance, where the Karma statue was given a THORNICO necklace, all guests were invited to a grill party at the THORNICO T(W)O Building. The cool penthouse served as a great place to enjoy good drinks and delicious food, while continuing the discussion on creativity. On the penthouse’s green terrace, chefs were preparing burgers on the grill and people were enjoying the sun and green surroundings.
The opening event also kick-started the already well-known rooftop festival in Rotterdam, Rotterdamse Dakendagen, where the rooftop of the THORNICO Green Park, among other rooftops, served as a party hub with music and dancing all night long, which was a perfect ending to an amazing opening event.
